After the excitement of designing a beautiful nursery for your little bundle of joy, comes the realization that the ‘baby’ stage has flown by and you now have a toddler on your hands and then those little monster cute kids. Out goes the cot, and in comes a whole new set of needs, and decorative challenges, including a finger-painted feature you hadn’t bargained on. Hence we decided to renovate our twin’s bedroom with a superhero theme…The best part was both my son and daughter love the theme!
Themed roomed interiors sometimes can get tacky and hence the design should be inspiring and not overwhelming. Hence we introduced a superhero vibe by adding accents that make the room look tasteful and if the kids outgrow it, adapting the room will be easy.
So we started out with basics, we needed a bunk bed so that they get space to move around, they needed a desk, storage, bookshelves and a wardrobe. It was essential for my daughter specially to have things she can climb and hang from. Hence the bunk bed was not just designed to sleep, they gave her the feeling of being a superhero herself. With the lower bunk bed getting pulled out to be a double bed when needed the the upper bed to be the secret get away during the day for the kids, it worked perfect! To add the little glamour and extravagance of the superheros, we framed some posters with their famous quotes and through some cushions to add to the decor of the room.
Next was a desk for the duo with a blue push pin board and now, loads and loads of art work makes it way up there. They have a desk to write and tons of storage which I am proud to say remains clean for most part!
If you are a mum of a superhero to be, encourage them to be confident and fierce. If you say yes to create their space and make it exactly like they need it to be, its a world of inspiration for them. After all, is there anything better than being a sidekick to your own children?!
