Kolum art home

Living in a high rise is always so much fun! And it was much more fun to design this 3.5BHK not just for its view but for the beautiful layout and the light it had! Everything that Karthik & Sreevidya wanted to assimilate and resonate with their traditions is something we tried to integrate into their home.

Never Ignore the Entrance
You only get one chance to make a good first impression, so why wouldn’t you make your front door entrance the absolute best? Simple yet trendy we gave it a flare of modern and a touch of tradition to this space!

The Kolum Art Wall Visuals
What’s the best thing a typical Tamil family has in their homes? It is the Kolum Art. With our crazy fast lives, it is difficult to have Kolum made everyday outside the main door and hence, look what we did!
As you enter the home, we embellished the long wall with an inherited teakwood cupboard, a side table and box shelves which flaunted its brass ornaments! Not just that, we hand-painted a beautiful Kolum frill around it. We placed a bold red table lamp and made this wall a striking feature of the living space! We were so excited to bring this art combined with family owned antiques in this project! Along with all the hand-painted artwork, we made a fully functional space with its TV unit, a lovely blue sofa and accent chairs!

The Kolum infused Dining Room
There’s also something about the hide-and-seek nature of mirror and teakwood moulding on the buffet in this dining area that makes it a magical addition. We infused the room with a rich, ethnic vibe of the Kolum which symbolizes happiness and prosperity.

The Legendary Devghar
The time we spend meditating is one of the most precious and divine moments of our life. Whether it is in any religious place or a spiritual corner at your own home, the bonding with the one above is a quintessential part of a happy life and for this you need a place that is secluded and calm. Here is how we separated the pooja room for Karthik and Sreevidya, we devoted a corner or space to place their holy deities.

The Electic Master Bedroom
The brick wall is an essential part of this narrative, and without it this bedroom is definitely incomplete. With the bright and beautiful Tibetan painting on the wall and textured bed covers, this eclectic bedroom is simple and chic!

Mix-matched Patterned Bedroom
Creating a mix of styles, patterns, and fresh and on-trend colors can be tricky to do especially when the bedroom is as tiny as this. It takes a few secrets to mix all the above and yet feel spacious. Small yet big, check out this guest bedroom! Through this project, we kept the overly matched look aside and took up a mixed style. Creating a mix of furniture styles, patterns, and fresh and on-trend colors can be tricky but voila… the mix of contemporary and ethnic styles look great here! And that’s exactly what we did with this pretty home of Karthik & Sreevidya!

While designing our house Sonia did a great job of translating our thoughts and ideas into the concept and delivering the concept as a wonderful experience. They began by asking me to lay out all my stuff I needed to rack and organize. Right from wrist bands to yoga mats to the big cycles had to be fitted. And voila….all of it was designed and was accurately placed, even 3 cycles were fitted perfectly on just one wall of my room! While designing our house Sonia did a great job of translating our thoughts and ideas into the concept and delivering the concept as a wonderful experience.
Our requirements about a rustic, minimalistic yet elegant and functional home were tactfully captured and have been brought to fruition with attention to finer nuances and cost effective refinements.
Here’s wishing Sonia all the luck and progress!
