The ICON Business Bay Experience
We had the opportunity to design a commercial building called Icon Business Bay for the ICON Group in Baner, Pune. While the building had the right spatial planning, it required a classy, refined identity to elevate its overall presence.
Our scope included the design of the main lobby, typical floor lobbies, staircase, entrance, elevator cladding, selected portions of the façade, and the approach road to the building. Enhancing the overall building experience was the key intent. The narrow road entry had to be carefully managed alongside a dilapidated neighbouring wall,
requiring sensitive execution without disturbing the existing structure.
Although the typical lobbies were compact, being a commercial building, they needed to feel welcoming and well-designed. The main lobby, despite its limited size, had to accommodate branding and name placards while maintaining a luxurious and professional look. Services and pipes were thoughtfully concealed yet kept accessible, ensuring functionality without compromising aesthetics.
Adding greenery was a clear mandate. CNC-cut screens were introduced as a strong design feature, serving the dual purpose of visual enhancement and concealing utilities. With the building located on a curve, it was crucial to create a strong façade presence from two sides, ensuring the building looked impactful and complete from every approach.
The project brings together thoughtful planning, refined detailing, and practical solutions to elevate a compact commercial building into a classy, welcoming, and contemporary workspace. By carefully addressing spatial constraints, integrating greenery, concealing services, and strengthening the building’s presence from multiple viewpoints, the design enhances both functionality and visual appeal creating a commercial environment that feels polished, professional, and enduring.
