The urban terrace
If you have a home with a terrace – it’s a gift! One can create styles, with gardens, fountains and seating zones and so on. Here you may spend the most relaxing, wonderful and philosophic moments of your life. If the surrounding nature is picturesque, enjoy a calm dinner with candles; if you live in a big city – the light of the night city would be great! So here is what we created!
Wooden cladding on the ceiling of this terrace, created warmth and coziness. Set against the neutral tones of slate grey tiles, the ceiling added an element of texture. Another basic design we created was we divided this terrace into zones – one with grey slate tiles and the other with lush green lawn. Each contrasted fantastically with the wooden ceiling and created a natural lounge like look which one would not want to leave!
So on the part of the green, we hung some moody lights that made this place very inviting. The sound of the fountain adds to peace and quiet of this space. Obviously, we did not forget the gardening nook and flower beds! Shashank & Pritma who own this gorgeous space say they spend a lot of their time here! This is also a space where Pritma gets to indulge in her hobby of growing plants and house trees of her choice!
However the other side of the terrace, despite the visual distinction, has sofas and refurbished teak wood chairs, pots and lamps, tables and a beautiful faux pas European window to add that little twist to the terrace. While the palette is limited to neutral colors, the terrace does not seem monotonous at all. On the contrary, there is a maximum of diversity and dynamics, which was achieved with a combination of different tones and grey, brown and colourful textiles. Potted plants became a great natural accent to compliment the design!
A perfect getaway at home is a best way to feel everyday!
